Research Resources for IUS Alumni & Local Community Members: Finding Books

The resources in these pages are either freely available on the web, or are available to Indiana residents (with registration).

Center for Cultural Resources

Looking for children's fiction and nonfiction?  The IUS Library has a wonderful selection of award-winning children's books in our Center for Cultural Resources, located on the 3rd floor of the Library.

All of these books have the following location in IUCAT:

CULAB

Search IUCAT

Use IUCAT (https://iucat.iu.edu/ius) to find books available from the IUS Library.  Community borrowers can check out books with a borrower's card (available to Kentuckiana residents).

Books in the IUS Library are arranged by the Library of Congress Classification System, which groups books by subject areas.  When you find a book in IUCAT that suits your need, you can browse for books on the same topic near your book's location.

An LC Classification number (or call number) looks like this:

SB319 .P38 2007

To find this book, begin by going to the SB  section of the collection (on the 3rd floor), then search within that section to find SB319. Search within that group for .P38 to find your book.  (2007 is the year the book was published.)

The IUS Library also has access to numerous eBooks (online books) through IUCAT.  Due to licensing restrictions, access to many of these eBooks is only available while in the IUS Library (if you see multiple URL's, choose the one that includes "Southeast").
