The IU Libraries Information Literacy Colloquium is intended to raise awareness of emerging trends and salient issues surrounding the design, delivery, and assessment of information literacy.

Location: Indiana University Southeast Conference Center, New Albany, Indiana.  New Albany is located in southern Indiana, about 10 minutes across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky. 


Audience: Academic librarians


Theme: Learning Out Loud: Information Literacy Pedagogy for the Non-Shushing Librarian


Keynote Speaker: Barbara Macke, Associate Librarian, University of Cincinnati Libraries. 

Barb Macke is an associate librarian at the University of Cincinnati. She also serves as the library liaison for the College of Arts & Sciences composition program on the main university campus.  Barb’s goal in life is to make undergraduate research exciting (not an oxymoron!), and to put the resources of a first-class research institution into the hands of her undergraduate students.  She has presented on the benefits of using problem-based learning and active learning techniques to teach research skills at the International Lilly Conference on Teaching & Learning, the National Conference for the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL), the Ohio Digital Commons for Education, the UC Center for the Enhancement of Teaching & Learning, and at many other conferences and workshops.


Breakout sessions: 45 minutes in length; interactive, engaging, and practical. 


Registration:  Registration, which will be limited to a maximum of 100 attendees, will open June 1, 2012.


Registration fee:   $50


Purpose:  The event is intended to raise awareness of emerging trends and salient issues surrounding the design, delivery, and assessment of information literacy by offering an affordable opportunity for librarians to share, learn, and reflect about their teaching in a collaborative, risk-free environment.
