The Golden book lists some 20,000-25,000 names of military veterans associated with Indiana University, recognizing those who served, those who died, and those who contributed to the memorial fund that helped build the Indiana Memorial Union, the old Memorial Stadium, and Memorial Hall on the Indiana University, Bloomington campus. This hand-written volume is divided into three parts: the first part records the names the of the men and women of Indiana University who served in the War of 1812, the Black Hawk War, the Mexican War, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, the Philippine Insurrection, the Mexican Border Expedition, World War I, and World War II; the second part records the names of veterans who died in the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World War I, and World War II with a brief description of service; the third part records the names of the donors to the Indiana University Memorial Fund.
