Lewis and Clark Handshake Ceremony and Re-enactment

In a cooperative effort with the Ohio Chapter of the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation, we celebrated the famous handshake between William Clark and Meriwether Lewis at Clarksville, Indiana that started their great adventure of exploration across the North American continent.

The CENTER FOR CULTURAL RESOURCES joined the event held the weekend of October 20 and 21 at the Falls Of The Ohio State Park Interpretive Center. Our popular booth featured a table of early American artifacts and historical lessons and stories of our great American westward migration.  We also spread out our unique giant map of Clark County and urged the attendees to pose with our Lewis and Clark cutouts.

A highlight of the weekend was the many re-enactors in full costume who portrayed the famous Americans who were a part of the expedition.
