Kit and Book Bag Contents

Kit 1: With the focus on the natural world and its inhabitants, this kit contains picture books, descriptive articles, newspaper clippings, and vibrant photographs to give researchers the tools needed to learn all about the twelve themes of unity within New Zealand and the South Polar areas. The teacher notebook in this kit contains ideas for educators to use the artifacts in their classroom.

 

Kit 2: This kit contains artifacts from New Zealand. The media notebook in this kit contains: currency, postcards, and descriptions of the other objects in the kit. The other objects are: whirl and stop balls, a stuffed kiwi (the national symbol), woven Maori headband, a New Zealand slang dictionary, pieces of a Paua shell, a map guide, 45 stamps, a kiwi carving, a pen set, birds and flowers cloth linen, The Great New Zealand linen piece, and a  female doll in Maori traditional dress.

Bio

Samantha Mullins is a senior at Indiana University Southeast, majoring in Secondary Education with a concentration in Social Studies. She aspires to instill a passion for learning in all of her students.

Taylor Whitehead is a senior at IUS. She majors in Secondary Education with a concentration in Social Studies. She hopes to engage students by teaching them what it means to be a global citizen while using the classroom as an active learning environment.
